Start documenting where the forest products you use in your company come from. (Keep a certificate of origin for each shipment.) Start finding out the scientific species name of each type of product you use. I am not sure of this but I believe that the Lacey Act requires a record of all purchase costs. There has been some last minute negotiation in regards to this Act and the final version has not been released yet. Sep 30, 2008 7:35 AM - As an Importer of books, what should we place on our routing instructions to insure our vendors follow the Act? -

That is a hard one to answer to be honest. I would suggest you open up a conversation with your customs broker. As the Importer you are 100% responsible in the eyes of CBP for complying with the law. |
