This bill is in the first step in the legislative process. Introduced
bills and resolutions first go to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise
them before they go to general debate. The majority of bills and resolutions never make it out of committee.

May 7, 2009 1:59 PM - what are the proponents in congress for supporting this bill? -
Answer it!Oct 11, 2009 3:45 PM - Is this another attempt to require registration of ALL of the firearms that you own, and then tax your right to own them? Will this also include the confiscation of certain firearms that are now legal to own? An, finally, should this be passed, would it become retroactive, or would it only apply to a "start date"? -

Did you actually read the bill? The links are above. This is a PRO gun bill and has nothing to do with registration, etc. See http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:h17: Answered by a visitor on Oct 22, 2009 7:17 PM -
To confirm previous answer: this is a "pro" that protects law-abiding citizens from victimization and from being sued by their would-be attackers if a gun is used in self-defense, or defense of a family member. See the link at thomas.loc.gov, already given for H.R. 17. It's a very short, plainly written bill. |
