Czar Accountability and Reform (CZAR) Act of 2009
111th Congress

This is a bill in the U.S. Congress originating in the House of Representatives ("H.R."). A bill must be passed by both the House and Senate and then be signed by the President before it becomes law.

The titles of bills are written by the bill's sponsor and are a part of the legislation itself. GovTrack does not editorialize bill summaries.

This bill is in the first step in the legislative process. Introduced bills and resolutions first go to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate. The majority of bills and resolutions never make it out of committee. [Last Updated: Jan 6, 2010 2:36AM]

Sep 14, 2009 4:36 PM - Will health care providers be unionized by this bill? - Answer it!
Sep 18, 2009 3:12 PM - The big question I have is what are the real limits on the Czars? Is it possible, if this bill is passed, for the Czars to step into any business, or is it limited to the situations we saw last year with corporations either near collapsing or that have been bailed out. From an outside perspective, this bill looks a bit too over reaching and needs stronger limits on what the Czar can and cannot do to fit the more appropriate situations. - Answer it!
Because the U.S. Congress posts most legislative information online one legislative day after events occur, GovTrack is usually one legislative day behind. For more information about where this data comes from, see About GovTrack.us.
