Jan 10, 2009 3:34 PM - Is it normal procedure for a House Resolution to be introduced the day before it is passed without discussion? -

Similar resolutions introduced in 2006 (109th Congress, HR 922, 945, and 1044) during the Israel-Lebanon conflict did not make it through committee, so this resolution seems to have passed exceptionally quickly. This bill had a lot of strength when it was introduced since it was introduced by both majority leader Nancy Pelosi and minority leader John Boehner. The 116 cosponsers the bill had also gave it the strength to pass with only 40 minutes of debate. |
