Aug 12, 2008 11:24 AM - Will this bill offer loan forgiveness retroactively for prosecutors and defenders who have been so employed for a number of years but who are still repaying substantial loans? -

No, the bill is intended to encourage people to become prosecutors or public defenders and make a three-year commitment to public service so preference is given to those who have 3 years or fewer of service. Answered by a visitor on Nov 18, 2008 5:26 PM -
But are "older" prosecutors & defenders actually eligible for the loan forgiveness, or do they just get in line after the newer attorneys? Nov 7, 2008 2:00 PM - Has there been a similar bill signed into law that aids government attorneys with student loans? -
