(1) such House Document;
(2) House Document 108-223, entitled "Women in Congress, 1917-2006"; and
(3) House Document 108-224, entitled "Black Americans in Congress, 1870-2007."

Background

“Hispanic Americans in Congress” provides a brief biography of every Hispanic American who served in Congress, along a summary of each Member’s contributions to the United States Congress and their portraits. The previous version reflected Hispanic Americans in Congress from 1822-1995. Likewise, "Women in Congress, 1917-2006" provides a brief biography of every woman who has served in Congress, along with a summary of their contributions and their portraits. "Black Americans in Congress, 1870-2007" provides a brief biography of every African American who has served in Congress, along with a summary of their contributions and their portraits.

Summary

This legislation would provide $700,000 in additional funding to ensure the printing and production of the authorized number of copies of the revised and updated version of the House document entitled, “Hispanic Americans in Congress.”  It would also require the Public Printer, to publish and disseminate an electronic version of: “Hispanic Americans in Congress,” "Women in Congress, 1917-2006," and "Black Americans in Congress, 1870-2007."

Cost

There was no Congressional Budget Office (CBO) cost estimate available for this bill. The authorization for this document is increased by $700,000 by the resolution. Additional appropriations are not expected to be required as funds will come from the Congressional Printing and Binding fund.
