“Hispanic Americans in Congress” provides a brief biography of every Hispanic American who served in Congress, along a summary of each Member’s contributions to the United States Congress and their portraits. The previous version reflected Hispanic Americans in Congress from 1822-1995. Likewise, "Women in Congress, 1917-2006" provides a brief biography of every woman who has served in Congress, along with a summary of their contributions and their portraits. "Black Americans in Congress, 1870-2007" provides a brief biography of every African American who has served in Congress, along with a summary of their contributions and their portraits.
This legislation would provide $700,000 in additional funding to ensure the printing and production of the authorized number of copies of the revised and updated version of the House document entitled, “Hispanic Americans in Congress.” It would also require the Public Printer, to publish and disseminate an electronic version of: “Hispanic Americans in Congress,” "Women in Congress, 1917-2006," and "Black Americans in Congress, 1870-2007."
There was no Congressional Budget Office (CBO) cost estimate available for this bill. The authorization for this document is increased by $700,000 by the resolution. Additional appropriations are not expected to be required as funds will come from the Congressional Printing and Binding fund.
The House Democratic Caucus does not provide summaries of bills.
So, yes, we display the House Republican Conference’s summaries when available even if we do not have a Democratic summary available. That’s because we feel it is better to give you as much information as possible, even if we cannot provide every viewpoint.
We’ll be looking for a source of summaries from the other side in the meanwhile.
