Use this page to find bills and resolutions in the U.S. Congress going back to 1993. You can also browse them by subject area or by committee assignment. (If you're looking for historical documents, see the links page for additional resources.)

Congress Term:
  • There are many bills and resolutions with the same number, like "H.R. 1828". Every two years, at the start of odd-numbered years, Congress restarts its numbering from 1 again. Each two-year session is called a "Congress". We're currently in the 111th Congress, which started in 2009. You must choose a particular session of Congress above to search.

You can search bills in several ways:

  • Enter a bill number above like H.R. 1828. Be sure to choose the right Session of Congress when looking for older legislation!
  • Enter keywords to search the bill's titles, summary, and full text. Use quotation marks to surround contiguous phrases and use "NOT" to exclude search terms.
  • Enter a section of the United States Code that the bill specificly cites. U.S.C. citations look like 42 U.S.C. 1395w-4(d).
  • Or enter a public law number like P.L. 108-447.
