Mr. HOAGLAND introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means


A BILL

To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the excise tax on luxury passenger vehicles.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. REPEAL OF LUXURY TAX ON PASSENGER VEHICLES.

    (a) IN GENERAL- Chapter 31 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to retail excise taxes) is amended by striking subchapter A.

    (b) CONFORMING AMENDMENTS-

      (1) Subsection (c) of section 4221 of such Code is amended by striking ‘4001(c), 4001(d), or’.

      (2) Subsection (d) of section 4222 of such Code is amended by striking ‘4001(c), 4001(d),’.

      (3) The table of subchapters for chapter 31 of such Code is amended by striking the item relating to subchapter A.

    (c) EFFECTIVE DATE- The amendments made by this section shall take effect on January 1, 1993.
