IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Ms. SCHENK introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary


A BILL

To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to extend the land border inspection fee program for the California southern border of the United States.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. EXTENSION OF LAND BORDER INSPECTION FEE PROGRAM FOR CALIFORNIA SOUTHERN BORDER OF UNITED STATES.

    (a) IN GENERAL- Section 286(q)(5)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1356(q)(5)(A)) is amended--

      (1) by inserting ‘(i)’ after ‘(5)(A)’; and

      (2) by adding at the end the following new clause:

    ‘(ii) Notwithstanding clause (i), the program authorized in this subsection is extended until September 30, 1996, with respect to--

      ‘(I) the northern border of the United States (as previously provided for by Public Law 103-121 (107 Stat. 1153, 1161)); and

      ‘(II) the California southern border of the United States.’.

    (b) QUARTERLY REPORT- Section 286(q)(5)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1356(q)(5)(C)) is amended--

      (1) by inserting ‘to the Congress’ after ‘submit’; and

      (2) by striking ‘September 30, 1993’ and inserting ‘September 30, 1996’.
