A BILL

To amend the Solid Waste Disposal Act, and for other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ‘Landfill Technological Improvement Act of 1994’.

SEC. 2. USE OF ORGANIC SORBENTS.

    Section 3004(c)(2) (42 U.S.C. 6924(c)(2)) is amended as follows:

      (1) In the first sentence following subparagraph (B) by striking ‘during’ and inserting in lieu thereof ‘in the anaerobic environment of’.

      (2) By adding a new subparagraph (c) to read as follows:

        ‘(C) Notwithstanding any current regulations implementing subparagraph (B) of this paragraph to the contrary, nothing in this section shall prohibit usage in hazardous waste landfills of sorbents manufactured from processed organic materials that would not be expected to degrade in an anaerobic environment, until such time as the Administrator issues final regulations concerning anaerobic landfill conditions and the usage of organic sorbents in landfills.’.
