A BILL
To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to waive the English language and civics requirements for naturalization for persons who are over 65 and have resided legally in the United States for at least 20 years.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. WAIVER OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND CIVICS REQUIREMENTS.
Section 312(b)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1423(b)(3)) is amended to read as follows:
‘(3) The requirements of subsection (a) shall not apply to any person who, on the date of the filing of the person’s application for naturalization as provided in section 334 is over sixty-five years of age and has been living in the United States for periods totaling at least twenty years subsequent to a lawful admission for permanent residence.’.
