A BILL

To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for coverage of an annual screening mammography under part B of the medicare program for women age 65 or older.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ‘Older Women’s Breast Cancer Detection Act of 1995’.

SEC. 2. COVERAGE OF ANNUAL SCREENING MAMMOGRAPHY UNDER MEDICARE FOR WOMEN AGE 65 OR OLDER.

    (a) IN GENERAL- Section 1834(c)(2)(A) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395m(c)(2)(A)) is amended--

      (1) in clause (iv), by striking ‘but under 65 years of age,’; and

      (2) by striking clause (v).

    (b) EFFECTIVE DATE- The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply to screening mammography performed on or after January 1, 1996.
