Mr. HEFNER (for himself, Mr. MURTHA, and Mr. GIBBONS) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means


A BILL

To amend the Generalized System of Preferences program to include unwrought titanium among the list of articles that may not be designated as eligible articles.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. TREATMENT OF UNWROUGHT TITANIUM FOR GENERALIZED SYSTEM OF PREFERENCES.

    (a) Section 503(b)(1) of the Trade Act of 1974, as amended (19 U.S.C. 2463) is amended by inserting after subparagraph (D) the following new subparagraph:

        ‘(E) unwrought titanium products specified in subheading 8108.10.50 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedules of the United States.’

    (b) By redesignating subparagraphs (E), (F), and (G), as subparagraphs (F), (G) and (H), respectively.

SEC. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.

    The amendments made by section 1 shall apply with respect to articles entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption after the date of enactment of this Act.
