H. CON. RES. 41

To express the sense of the Congress that the Bureau of Labor Statistics should develop and publish monthly a cost of living index.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

March 4, 1999

Mr. PICKETT submitted the following concurrent resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Education and the Workforce

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

To express the sense of the Congress that the Bureau of Labor Statistics should develop and publish monthly a cost of living index.

    Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That it is the sense of the Congress that the Bureau of Labor Statistics should develop an index--

      (1) which would provide a reliable means of measuring the monthly change in the cost of living in the United States;

      (2) for which information would be compiled monthly, and which would be published on a monthly basis; and

      (3) which would be distinct from any index that the Bureau of Labor Statistics now publishes.
