Mr. EHRLICH introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure
A BILL
To amend title 23, United States Code, relating to minimum penalties for repeat offenders for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 164(a)(5) of title 23, United States Code, is amended--
(1) by striking subparagraphs (A) and (B) inserting the following:
‘(A) receive a driver’s license suspension for not less than 1 year and be subject to--
‘(i) the impoundment or immobilization of 1 or more of the individual’s motor vehicles; or
‘(ii) the installation of an ignition interlock system on 1 or more of the individual’s motor vehicles for not less than 1 year;’; and
(2) by redesignating subparagraphs (C) and (D) as subparagraphs (B) and (C), respectively.
