Mr. LUTHER (for himself, Mr. SABO, Mr. OBERSTAR, and Ms. MCCOLLUM) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committee on Ways and Means, for a period of time to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned


A BILL

To provide for equitable reimbursement rates under the Medicare Program for thin prep pap smears tests.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. EQUITABLE REIMBURSEMENT RATES UNDER THE MEDICARE PROGRAM FOR THIN PREP PAP SMEARS TESTS.

    The first sentence of Section 1833(h)(7) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395l(h)(7)) is amended by inserting before the period the following: ‘and, in the case of such a test for which a claim is billed under HCPCS code 88142, $28 for tests furnished in 2002’.
