Mr. SHOWS introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committee on Education and the Workforce, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned


A BILL

To amend the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Act of 1981 to address the needs of low-income households in States with high needs for cooling assistance, by adjusting a hold harmless provision.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. ALLOTMENT OF FUNDS TO STATES THAT NEED COOLING ASSISTANCE.

    Section 2604(a)(2)(A)(ii) of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Act of 1981 (42 U.S.C. 8623(a)(2)(A)(ii)) is amended by striking ‘$1,975,000,000’ and inserting ‘$1,000,000,000’.
