Summary of this bill

This is the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014, the bill that set the federal budget for fiscal year 2014.

The bill began as the Space Launch Liability Indemnification Extension Act but was used as the vehicle for the passage of the budget deal. On January 15, 2014, the House replaced the text of this bill to turn it into the Consolidated Appropriations Act. The Senate approved the change on January 16, sending the bill to the President.

The original provision of the Space Launch Liability Indemnification Extension Act was also included in the final text of the bill.

That the bill from the House of Representatives (H.R. 3547) entitled An Act to extend the application of certain space launch liability provisions through 2014., do pass with the following

Strike all after the enacting clause and insert the following:

Launch liability extension

Section 50915(f) of title 51, United States Code, is amended by striking December 31, 2013 and inserting December 31, 2016.

Amend the title so as to read: A bill to extend Government liability, subject to appropriation, for certain third-party claims arising from commercial space launches..
