A BILL

To prohibit the sale or distribution of cosmetics containing synthetic plastic microbeads.

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015.

Prohibition against sale or distribution of cosmetics containing synthetic plastic microbeads

(a)

In general

Section 601 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 361) is amended by adding at the end the following:

(f)

If it contains synthetic plastic microbeads.

(b)

Effective date

The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on January 1, 2018.
