Mr. Markey (for himself, Mrs. McCaskill, Mr. Wyden, Mr. Menendez, Mr. Blumenthal, Mr. Leahy, Ms. Warren, Mr. Sanders, Mr. Franken, Ms. Klobuchar, and Ms. Baldwin) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
To repeal debt collection amendments made by the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015.
This Act may be cited as the
Help Americans Never Get Unwanted Phone calls Act of 2015 or
Repeal of debt collection amendments
Section 227(b) of the Communications Act of 1934 (47 U.S.C. 227(b)) is amended—
in paragraph (1)—
in subparagraph (A)(iii), by striking
, unless such call is made solely to collect a debt owed to or guaranteed by the United States; and
in subparagraph (B), by striking
, is made solely pursuant to the collection of a debt owed to or guaranteed by the United States,; and
in paragraph (2)—
in subparagraph (F), by adding
and at the end;
in subparagraph (G), by striking
; and at the end and inserting a period; and
by striking subparagraph (H).
Section 301(b) of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015 is repealed.
