The goals of the center must be to (1) coordinate and facilitate scientific and technological efforts relating to artificial intelligence across NOAA, and (2) expand external partnerships and build workforce proficiency to effectively transition artificial intelligence research and applications to operations.

Through the center, NOAA must implement a comprehensive program to improve the use of artificial intelligence systems in support of its mission.
