In November, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was enacted into law, containing large investments in expanding broadband internet access, transportation systems, and energy and water systems. It costs about $1.2 trillion, with $550 million of that total actually being new spending above what Congress had previously appropriated.

The 1,039-page law incorporated provisions from dozens of other previously-introduced bills.
