117TH CONGRESS 2D SESSION S. 198 AN ACT To require the Federal Communications Commission to in- corporate data on maternal health outcomes into its broadband health maps. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
2 1 SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. 2 This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Data Mapping to Save 3 Moms’ Lives Act’’. 4 SEC. 2. MAPPING BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY AND MATER- 5 NAL HEALTH OUTCOMES. 6 (a) INCORPORATION OF MATERNAL HEALTH OUT- 7 COME DATA.—The Federal Communications Commission 8 shall incorporate data on maternal health outcomes for not 9 less than 1 year postpartum, as recommended by the Cen- 10 ters for Disease Control and Prevention under subsection 11 (b), into the most recently available broadband health 12 mapping tools of the Commission. 13 (b) CONSULTATION WITH CDC.—The Federal Com- 14 munications Commission shall consult with the Centers for 15 Disease Control and Prevention regarding the maternal 16 health outcomes that should be incorporated into the most 17 recently available broadband health mapping tools of the 18 Commission under subsection (a). 19 SEC. 3. GAO STUDY. 20 Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment 21 of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States 22 shall study and submit to Congress a report on— 23 (1) the effectiveness of internet connectivity in 24 reducing maternal morbidity rates; and † S 198 ES
