Former President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, officially worked in the White House as an assistant to the president. In 2019, she led a new initiative called Women’s Global Development and Prosperity (W-GDP), run through the State Department.

The initiative spent $200 million in its first two years, across more than 60 countries, working with a combination of national and local governments, the private sector, and charities. They had five main goals: removing women’s restrictions on employment, on owning and managing property, on accessing institutions (such as courts), on building credit (such as opening a bank account), and on traveling freely (like allowing all women to obtain passports).
