A BILL

To require the imposition of sanctions with respect to Nord Stream 2 AG.

1.

Short title

This Act may be cited as the CAATSA Implementation Act of 2021.

Imposition of sanctions with respect to Nord Stream 2 AG

(a)

Finding

Congress finds that since July 21, 2021, the Government of the Russian Federation has attempted to use energy as a weapon to achieve aggressive political ends.

(b)

Application of sanctions

Not later than 15 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the President shall impose the sanctions described in subsection (b) of section 10 of the Sovereignty, Integrity, Democracy, and Economic Stability of Ukraine Act of 2014 (22 U.S.C. 8909), as added by section 228 of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (Public Law 115–44; 131 Stat. 911), with respect to Nord Stream 2 AG.

(c)

Congressional review of termination of sanctions

Section 216(a)(2) of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (22 U.S.C. 9511(a)(2)) is amended—

(1)

in subparagraph (A)(ii), by inserting or otherwise remove after waive; and

(2)

in subparagraph (B)(i)—

(A)

in subclause (II), by striking ; or and inserting a semicolon;

(B)

in subclause (III), by striking ; and and inserting ; or; and

(C)

by adding at the end the following:

(IV)

section 2(b) of the CAATSA Implementation Act of 2021; and
