6/17/1976--Introduced. Extends for two years, until June 30, 1978, the program under Title XVI (Supplemental Security Income for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled) of the Social Security Act under which the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare may, upon written authorization by a beneficiary, withhold benefits due such beneficiary and reimburse a State, from the amount withheld, for interim assistance furnished by the State to the beneficiary while awaiting the initiation of benefits under Title XVI. Requires that the State pay to such beneficiary any excess of such payment from the Secretary over the reimbursable amount within 15 working days.
