Ward was the representative for New York’s 4th congressional district and was a Democrat. He served from 1841 to 1843.

He was previously the representative for New York’s 4th congressional district as a Jackson from 1835 to 1837; the representative for New York’s 4th congressional district as a Jackson from 1833 to 1835; the representative for New York’s 4th congressional district as a Jackson from 1831 to 1833; the representative for New York’s 4th congressional district as an Adams from 1827 to 1829; and the representative for New York’s 4th congressional district as an Adams from 1825 to 1827.
