first database of slaveholding members of Congress
by examining thousands of pages of census records and historical documents.
Chappell was one of them.

From Dec 1843 to Mar 1845, Chappell missed 265 of 596 roll call votes, which is 44.5%. This is much worse than the median of 23.5% among the lifetime records of representatives serving in Mar 1845. The chart below reports missed votes over time.
