Sen. Augustus Dodge
Former Senator for Iowa
Dodge was a senator from Iowa and was a Democrat. He served from 1848 to 1855.
He was previously the representative for Iowa’s at-large district as a Democrat from 1845 to 1846; the representative for Iowa’s at-large district as a Democrat from 1843 to 1845; and the representative for Iowa’s at-large district as a Democrat from 1840 to 1843.
From Dec 1847 to Mar 1855, Dodge missed 232 of 1,488 roll call votes, which is 15.6%. This is better than the median of 25.9% among the lifetime records of senators serving in Mar 1855. The chart below reports missed votes over time.
We don’t track why legislators miss votes, but it’s often due to medical absenses, major life events, and running for higher office.
