Vinson was the representative for Georgia’s 6th congressional district and was a Democrat. He served from 1933 to 1964.

He was previously the representative for Georgia’s 10th congressional district as a Democrat from 1931 to 1933; the representative for Georgia’s 10th congressional district as a Democrat from 1927 to 1931; the representative for Georgia’s 10th congressional district as a Democrat from 1925 to 1927; the representative for Georgia’s 10th congressional district as a Democrat from 1923 to 1925; the representative for Georgia’s 10th congressional district as a Democrat from 1915 to 1923; and the representative for Georgia’s 10th congressional district as a Democrat from 1913 to 1915.
