He was previously the representative for Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district (1845-1847); the representative for Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district (1843-1845); the representative for Pennsylvania's 3rd congressional district (1841-1843); and the representative for Pennsylvania's 1st congressional district (1813-1815; Republican).
