Geddes was the representative for Ohio’s 16th congressional district and was a Democrat. He served from 1885 to 1887.

He was previously the representative for Ohio’s 14th congressional district as a Democrat from 1883 to 1885; the representative for Ohio’s 14th congressional district as a Democrat from 1881 to 1883; and the representative for Ohio’s 15th congressional district as a Democrat from 1879 to 1881.
