He was previously the representative for Indiana's 5th congressional district (1865-1869); the representative for Indiana's 5th congressional district (1863-1865); the representative for Indiana's 5th congressional district (1861-1863); and the representative for Indiana's 4th congressional district (1849-1851; Free Soil).
