He was previously the representative for Indiana’s 5th congressional district as a Republican from 1865 to 1869; the representative for Indiana’s 5th congressional district as a Republican from 1863 to 1865; the representative for Indiana’s 5th congressional district as a Republican from 1861 to 1863; and the representative for Indiana’s 4th congressional district as a Free Soil from 1849 to 1851.
