Green was a senator from Missouri and was a Democrat. He served from 1857 to 1861.

He was previously the representative for Missouri’s 3rd congressional district as a Democrat from 1849 to 1851; and the representative for Missouri’s 3rd congressional district as a Democrat from 1847 to 1849.
