Taber was the representative for New York’s 36th congressional district and was a Republican. He served from 1953 to 1962.

He was previously the representative for New York’s 38th congressional district as a Republican from 1945 to 1952; the representative for New York’s 36th congressional district as a Republican from 1931 to 1944; the representative for New York’s 36th congressional district as a Republican from 1927 to 1931; the representative for New York’s 36th congressional district as a Republican from 1925 to 1927; and the representative for New York’s 36th congressional district as a Republican from 1923 to 1925.
