Thomson was the representative for Ohio’s 17th congressional district and was a Jackson. He served from 1835 to 1837.

He was previously the representative for Ohio’s 17th congressional district as a Jackson from 1833 to 1835; the representative for Ohio’s 12th congressional district as a Jackson from 1831 to 1833; the representative for Ohio’s 12th congressional district as a Jackson from 1829 to 1831; and the representative for Ohio’s 6th congressional district as a Jackson from 1825 to 1827.
