Chace was a senator from Rhode Island and was a Republican. He served from 1885 to 1889.

He was previously the representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district as a Republican from 1883 to 1885; and the representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district as a Republican from 1881 to 1883.
