Dixon was a senator from Montana and was a Republican. He served from 1907 to 1913.

He was previously the representative for Montana’s 1st congressional district as a Republican from 1905 to 1907; and the representative for Montana’s 1st congressional district as a Republican from 1903 to 1905.
