He was previously a senator from Minnesota as a Republican from 1901 to 1907; a senator from Minnesota as a Republican from 1895 to 1901; the representative for Minnesota’s 5th congressional district as a Republican from 1887 to 1889; the representative for Minnesota’s 5th congressional district as a Republican from 1885 to 1887; and the representative for Minnesota’s 5th congressional district as a Republican from 1883 to 1885.
