Silsbee was a senator from Massachusetts and was an Adams. He served from 1829 to 1835.

He was previously a senator from Massachusetts as an Adams from 1826 to 1829; the representative for Massachusetts’s 2nd congressional district as a Republican from 1819 to 1821; and the representative for Massachusetts’s 2nd congressional district as a Republican from 1817 to 1819.
