He was previously the representative for North Carolina's 8th congressional district (1931-1933); the representative for North Carolina's 8th congressional district (1927-1931); the representative for North Carolina's 8th congressional district (1925-1927); the representative for North Carolina's 8th congressional district (1923-1925); the representative for North Carolina's 8th congressional district (1915-1923); and the representative for North Carolina's 8th congressional district (1911-1915).
