He was previously the representative for North Carolina's 8th congressional district (1841-1843); the representative for North Carolina's 9th congressional district (1825-1827; Jackson); the representative for North Carolina's 9th congressional district (1823-1825; Republican); and the representative for North Carolina's 9th congressional district (1821-1823; Republican).
