Platt was a senator from New York and was a Republican. He served from 1903 to 1909.

He was previously a senator from New York as a Republican from 1897 to 1903; a senator from New York as a Republican from 1881 to 1881; the representative for New York’s 28th congressional district as a Republican from 1875 to 1877; and the representative for New York’s 27th congressional district as a Republican from 1873 to 1875.
