King was a senator from Utah and was a Democrat. He served from 1923 to 1940.

He was previously a senator from Utah as a Democrat from 1917 to 1923; the representative for Utah’s 1st congressional district as a Democrat from 1899 to 1901; and the representative for Utah’s 1st congressional district as a Democrat from 1897 to 1899.
